General

Where is EcoHydra produced?

EcoHydra is produced at our facility in the East Midlands of the UK.

Where is EcoHydra packed?

EcoHydra is packed at our facility in the East Midlands of the UK.

Will EcoHydra protect me during the current coronavirus pandemic?

EcoHydra has undergone rigorous testing following internationally recognised standards. These tests prove that it kills a wide range of bacteria and viruses as well as, or even better than, alcohol, including bacteria and viruses of particular concern both to the general public and to professionals.

UK regulations do not allow a hand sanitiser to make advertising claims to kill specific germs, even if it has passed tests that prove that it does so. For more information please contact us at coronavirus@ecohydra.com

What tests has EcoHydra® Alcohol Free Antimicrobial Hand Sanitiser passed?

Our hand sanitiser has passed numerous test conducted by independent laboratories including prEN 12054 & EN 1276 (bacteria), EN 14476 (viruses), EN 13704 (spores), EN 1500 (live subjects) and PAS 2424.

Does EcoHydra stain clothing, equiptment or skin?

No. EcoHydra products leave no stain and rinse off easily with water.

What's the significance of being alcohol-free?

Alcohol dries and damages your skin's integrity leaving it cracked and at risk of further infection. Alcohol also evaporates immediately upon application rendering it ineffective for longer term protection.

What's the significance of being triclosan-free?

Triclosan is an ingredient added to many consumer products intended to reduce or prevent bacterial contamination. However, studies have shown that Triclosan's effectiveness and safety as an antibacterial agent is flawed. There is also evidence that shows that the use of Triclosan promotes the creation of superbugs.

Our antimicrobial agent, Benzalkonium chloride (BAC), has proved its effectiveness and safety through decades of use in the medical field where sanitary environments are of vital importance.

What's the active ingredient in EcoHydra products?

All EcoHydra products contain the active ingredient Benzalkonium chloride (BAC). This ingredient on its own has been used for over 60 years in medical sanitation, and is approved for safety and effectiveness in antiseptic applications. It has been approved for safety by the EU as a biocide for use on humans as well as by the US FDA for use as an active ingredient on the hands, in the mouth and as a food additive.

Our BAC-containing products are very effective at killing up to 99.9999% of bacteria and viruses yet do not damage the skin, unlike alcohol-based products.

What's the difference between your foam and spray hand sanitiser?

Nothing other than the dispenser! They both provide the same amount of protection if used following our guidelines.

How do I know EcoHydra will protect me against a particular virus or bacterium I’m concerned about?

EcoHydra has undergone rigorous testing following internationally recognised standards. Hand Sanitiser

What is a hand sanitiser?

A hand sanitiser is a liquid formulation that quickly kills, neutralises, or inhibits the growth of germs on physically clean hands, with the aim of avoiding transmission of germs. Unlike hand cleansers, which clean physically dirty hands and require water to lather and then rinse off, hand sanitisers do not require water and can simply be left on the hands.

How does the expiry date work?

There have been questions raised in regards to the expiry date shown on our Hand Sanitiser bottles and when the product is technically OUT of date. The expiry date is the last date after which the 18 month user period applies. So, by example, a product with an expiry date of 30.09.22 = becomes out of date as of the 31.03.24

Why/when would I require a hand sanitiser?

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control has stated that the number one way to prevent the spread of germs is by hand washing. Unfortunately, that is not always convenient. Hand sanitisers do not replace hand washing, but are a supplement.

EcoHydra’s Antimicrobial Hand Sanitiser kills germs instantly whilst moisturising the skin, thereby helping to prevent the spread of disease. In fact, EcoHydra is more effective in use than alcohol-based products as well as being cheaper per application.

How effective is the EcoHydra® Alcohol-Free Antimicrobial Hand Sanitiser against harmful microorganisms?

Our hand sanitiser is effective against a wide range of common germs, killing up to 99.9999% of bacteria and viruses in as little as 30 seconds.

How long is EcoHydra® Alcohol-Free Antimicrobial Hand Sanitiser effective for?

In contrast to alcohol-based hand sanitisers, the EcoHydra® Alcohol-Free Antimicrobial Hand Sanitiser has been shown to have longer-lasting germ-killing activity.

However, this residual activity is not permanent and regular re-application should be practised.

How much of the EcoHydra® Alcohol-Free Antimicrobial Hand Sanitiser needs to be used?

An amount of 1-2 squirts (0.4-0.8ml) is sufficient to produce the desired effect.

Does EcoHydra’s Antimicrobial Hand Sanitiser need to be wiped off after use?

No. EcoHydra’s Antimicrobial Hand Sanitiser is meant to be left on the skin until it dries.

What is the shelf life of the EcoHydra® Alcohol-Free Antimicrobial Hand Sanitiser?

EcoHydra® Alcohol-Free Antimicrobial Hand Sanitiser has a shelf life of three years. We have a symbol on our label which denotes “Use within 18 months of opening”.

Hand Wash

What is an Antibacterial Hand Wash?

An antibacterial handwash is an antiseptic liquid soap that is used to wash away dirt from physically dirty hands, at the same time as disinfecting by quickly killing, neutralising, or inhibiting the growth of germs on the hands, with the aim of avoiding transmission of germs. Water is required to lather and then rinse the product off.

How effective is EcoHydra's antibacterial hand wash against harmful microorganisms?

Our handwash is effective against a wide range of common bacteria and yeasts, killing up to 99.9999% of disease-causing germs in as little as 30 seconds.

How much of the EcoHydra® Antibacterial Handwash needs to be used?

An amount of 2-3ml (2-3 squirts) is sufficient to produce the desired effects.

What is the shelf life of the EcoHydra® Alcohol-Free Hand Wash?

The EcoHydra® Antibacterial Handwash has a shelf life of three years. We have a symbol on our label which denotes “Use within 18 months of opening”.

Barrier Cream

What is a barrier cream?

A barrier cream is a cream that is rubbed onto the skin and forms a physical barrier between the skin and contaminants which may irritate, infect, or damage the skin. Unlike most barrier creams, EcoHydra's barrier cream also disinfects the hands by quickly killing, neutralising, or inhibiting the growth of germs on the hands.

How effective is EcoHydra®'s Barrier Cream against harmful microorganisms?

The EcoHydra® Antibacterial Barrier Cream contains the active ingredient Benzalkonium chloride (BAC). This ingredient has inherent antimicrobial properties and a well-established safety record, having been used for decades in the medical field where sanitary environments are of vital importance.

The concentration of BAC in this product is very low, decreasing the possibility of skin irritation. Surfactants are another important component in this barrier cream. They compliment the BAC by penetrating the skin to deliver the BAC to attack the germs. Aloe Vera and emollients are also key in conditioning, soothing, and moisturising the skin to maintain its integrity with repeated use.

The barrier cream is effective against a wide range of common bacteria and yeasts, killing up to 99.9999% of disease-causing pathogens within 30 seconds.

Can EcoHydra’s Barrier Cream with Antibacterial replace gloves?

This product is not a replacement for accepted protective devices such as gloves or other conventional protection against harsh acids or toxic solvents, but is an effective backup to their possible and documented failure. In fact, it can protect against the possible side effects of their use, such as allergic reactions. Where protection is not available, or too cumbersome, it can become the first line of defence for areas of exposed skin.

How much of the EcoHydra® Barrier Cream with Antibacterial needs to be used?

One squeeze (2-3ml) is sufficient to achieve the desired effects.

When should I apply barrier cream?

We recommend that in order to receive maximum protection, you apply the Barrier Cream every two hours, after washing your hands with EcoHydra hand wash. In addition, the area of skin to be protected should be as dry and as clean as possible prior to application.

What is the shelf life of the EcoHydra® Barrier Cream?

The EcoHydra® Barrier Cream with Antibacterial has a shelf life of three years. We have a symbol on our label which denotes “Use within 18 months of opening”.
